There were hundreds of trees in my neighborhood
They were like guardians watching over us,
But there was one tree in particular.
One that stood the tallest,
One that stood the strongest.
The one that caught my eye the most
I would walk up to it
Then stare up at it
I felt like it would stare back down at me
Its bark was hard and rough
The trunk was wider than a bus
The trees danced in the wind
The sound of the leaves was like the ocean waves
It was home to many different creatures
Squirrels, birds, bugs, and owls
The tree is very old
It’s lived through many different generations
And it will be there for many years to come
I have but one thing to say to the tree,
“Thank you.”
