Snowercoaster

Skiing is like a roller coaster,
Controlled by your feet
Quickly slic ing down the mountain
Rapidly screaming

the hill
Without one tiny SCREECH!
The glistening piles of snow are your rails,
though much less predictable
You power down the trail,
Getting nearer to the end,
You slide to a stop with a plume of snow,
a shower of sparks,
A hiss of brakes,
Your feet pushing against the momentum
Grinding slowly to a stop
Using your skis to rain down powder.
All of this,
Just
To
Do
It

Beautiful Monsters

Pretty clothing and
Loving words
Words that make you swell with
Happiness and pride
Words that make you feel
Loved and appreciated
Words that make you feel
Lucky and desired

They’re so beautiful
Picture perfect
Their smiles so sincere
And welcome
Clothing flawless
And unwrinkled

They put on a show
For the public
Stares of envy and awe
Follow you
And you smile
Because you have to
Because you have to

Because if you don’t
Put on your show
They’ll kill you
In a thousand
Little ways

They’ll hurt you
Beat you
Until your body’s
Black and blue
Until you’re nothing
But a shivering shadow
On a cold
Dark ground

They’ll make you feel
As if it’s your fault
It’s all your fault
As if you’re too weak
And ungrateful

And you’ll believe them
Every little word
Because they are
Your gods
Your life
Your survival

And yet their threats still
Ring in your ears
Their harsh words
Lashing mercilessly
Invisibly
Against your skin
Their laughs of
Ridicule ricochet harshly
Angrily
Through your mind

So you’ll take their hands
Obediently
And you’ll smile
Smile as hard as you can
And let them dress you up
And whisper sweet nothings in your ears
And let them show the world the perfect you
And hide away the broken one
The real one

And you’ll let them
Beat you
Batter you
Bruise you
And you’ll still smile
All the way through

But you don’t blame them
They’re Monsters
And that’s
What Monsters
Do

Winter Dread

The bright sun shines above
Walking on the beach I so love
The cool breeze hits my face
While strolling with a steady pace
The refreshing waves CrAShInG at my feet
Where my toes and the sand meet
Oh it’s so fun to play
On a nice summer day

The longer days no longer live
The cold simply will not give
Shorter days lie ahead
Mittens for hands and hat for head
Winter feels like jail
Three long months until bail
Gone are the days that forgive
I yearn for the day to again live

The Comforting Thunderstorm

The comforting thunderstorm
Was loud as my sister wasn’t comforted
BOOM! Kept coming coming as it got loud

But I wasn’t scared by the loud
Strikes that came along the thunderstorm
I was never scared as I was was comforted

I wanted to be more comforted
Sooner or later IT wasn’t loud
I said hi to the rain and bye to the thunderstorm

I said bye to the thunderstorm, and was perfectly comforted, as the darkness came and know you’re not loud

Medusa

head of snakes
eyes of stone
once seen as a figure of beauty,
perfection

once seen as an item
a tool
a mere toy to play with,
taken advantage of

her hair, a gift
to defend herself
against the men
the Man

her eyes, a shield
to show that she was more than
an Item
someone who is not to mess with

but that didn’t stop them.

He fought her
He sliced off her head
carried it like a trophy of courage
He returned home
idolized
as a hero
He stood proud, waving the mangled head
of a once beautiful girl

head of pride
eyes of daggers
once seen as a figure of beauty
an item

soon a Monster
and now,
back to her roots.

“Rocks and Sticks”

I’m like a rock surrounded by sticks.
I’m different, I think.
But all the other sticks seem to not like a rock like me.
They just seem to go the other way.
They don’t even care because they have all the sticks they need.

I’m invisible to stick apparently.
Its like they don’t even hear me and I’m a rock!
“Click clack” they all talk and talk but they don’t hear me.
They are careless about me.
I always feel that I don’t belong.

Every stick has friends except me.
Im sorry, I don’t know what I did.
I don’t know whats wrong with me, is it because I’m different?
I don’t know.
All I know is that I’m Alone.

Eyes ahead

When I close my eyes anything is possible
But when I open my eyes I feel I cannot do anything
However today’s a new day that I can make a new choice
Today’s another day I can choose to not sleep with my dreams
but I wake up and chase them
Though the road might be tough in the end
I’ll never lose sight with what’s ahead

Winter cheer

trillions of people know the best season is winter
even though we have no snow
there’s still time for holiday cheer

the streets are full of cheer
people shout it’s finally winter
maybe someday there will be snow

frost lounges on roofs and yards, mistaken for snow
my mom bakes cookies to spread family cheer
my sister and i watch christmas movies to honor winter

oh how we all love spreading winter cheer and celebrating our diverse holidays even if there is no snow
