Bat Mitzvah Day

Years of preperation,
For this big final step,
Becoming a Jewish woman,
Childhood to rest.

Song after song,
prayer after prayer,
I can feel the tension,
rising in the air.

I read from the Torah
Excitement on the rise,
I’m a woman already,
I can feel it inside!

My heart skips a beat
as I say the last words,
and pass over to adulthood,
a whole brand new world.

The service is closed,
There are hugs all around,
All of me is smiling,
From my head to my gown!

There is food, there is laughter,
There are presents galore,
And I finally realize,
I’m not a kid anymore.
