Forgiven

I slither my stringy hands
Over and around you,
Sleeping blissfully in bed

My fingers slip over your mouth and neck
You wake
Glass shatters

A blood curdling scream erupts from your neck
Your face is scrunched up like a used towel
A river of tears soaks your shirt

I realize my sins as I see you scream
I apologize
Forgive me

Our eyes meet;
You tremble,
I tremble

My dark, black mass comes from under the bed
I slowly turn into light, glowing
I am done striking fear in your heart

I am the sun now
I will protect you,
Even if I’m not forgiven
