Prison of my Mind

My prison is a trap,
any moment my grip on sanity might snap.
Tight chains hold my wrist,
the dark room filled with mist.

I sit upon the cold, hard, floor
Always wondering if anyone will open the door.
To let me go be free,
in a world where I can be me.
But I’m stuck in a cage,
My body always ready for a rampage.

Once the chains break,
I might discover this is all fake.
But that isn’t true,
Because I know you.

All because this is my life,
Always standing on the edge of a knife.
READY TO LET GO!
But I guess I’ll never know.
Light streams into the room,
Pulling me from my gloom.

A hand pulls me free,
Allowing me to be me.
Until the door closes once more,
Once again leaving me on the floor.

Once again I’m left behind,
In the eternal prison of my mind.
