Changes

Walking out of school for summer felt strange
Like a butterfly leaving its cocoon
It’s hard to believe how much I’ve changed

From keeping my mouth shut as a locker
My head tilted down like a half-open laptop
And sadly plopping in my seat

From being called the kid in the back
And the kid in the blue shirt
To them saying Not Jack! The other kid!

I’ve Changed
From those names to my True name
Back to unchanged Chris

I used punctuation in line 9 to emphasize how a voice would sound saying that.
I italicized the word strange in line one because I wanted to stand out by italicizing a word in a sentence full of normal words.

“It” Tritina

The struggle of getting it finished,
Of knowing it’s there but wanting to have fun,
And telling yourself to release all that power.

Watching, waiting, breathing it has the power,
It looks at you as if to say, come get me finished,
It knows your deepest thoughts and says come on this will be fun.

You think eating a horse would be more fun,
Than you here a voice saying you need to have power.
You look at it and RIP OFF THE BAND AID it is finished.

Homework can power over you, but get it finished so you can go have fun.

Again

As the Sun paints the sky with it’s lava brush strokes,
The ocean’s waves continue to kiss the shore,
No matter how many times they’ve been forced away,
Footprints wander along the glimmering sand,
Up above, the silver crescent circles our world once again,
Our wise moon encourages the tides to bubble up on the b between land and sea,

The sky’s fire has gone to sleep,
We say hello to the stars who shine for us,
The world says goodnight,
Drops of Jupiter spill into the midnight sky,
Streaks of Saturn light up the chilly night,
Puddles of Pluto strobe through the clouds,
Morning,
The Sun paints the sky with it’s lava brush strokes,
Again.

Everything has a purpose

The sky is blue
The Earth is round
And the owl goes hoo
EVERYTHING has a purpose

While time goes down
Air goes up
Then love goes around
EVERYTHING has a purpose

Our purpose is unclear
But until we find out
We can not fear
But we have to know

Summer

hovers
The bright sun in the sky,
School is out.
The sound of the ice cream truck passing by,
All you hear are shouts.

Kids are jumping in the pool,
Toes are in the sand.
No thought in their minds about school.
The greatest party in the land.

All the kids are sad
when the end of summer is near.
The thought is very bad,
That they will have to w a i t another year.

Life is a dark room,
The darkness will consume,
All of the light.

Or breakdown,
You might give up,
But you know you have to stand up.
You push
You feel like mush.
You push on,
The lonely feeling gone.
With great might,
You find the light.

An Ode to Cookies

You could offer me ice cream or brownies,
Or other treats meant for rookies.
But above all the cake and candy and cream,
I prefer freshly baked cookies.

“Why cookies?” you might ask.
Well I’ll have you see.
Unlike donuts or muffins,
They are very crispy.

From oatmeal raisin to chocolate chip,
From sugar to double fudge.
Bring me any kind of cookie,
And I won’t be a harsh judge.

Cookies are cheap, cookies are good,
Cookies are easy to make.
Ice cream is costly, candy tastes weird,
And cake is a hassle to bake.

I think by now I’ve made my point –
Cookies are the bomb!
Besides, I have to wrap this up,
For I can’t go without cookies for long.

Christmas Tree

Standing Tall by the fire,
pine needles dRift.
Lights, strEamers, and ornaments
hang from the bEautiful bending branches.
But most importantly of all,
the Christmas Star is looming in the sky,
Just like all those years ago.

Colorful presents resT and wait
until ChRistmas Day.
ChildrEn wait for the day like a lion,
ready to pouncE on its prey.

This is a very special time for everyone,
And right in the middle of it all,
is the great Christmas Tree.
