Blood and Bones, Sticks and Stones

My heart is wrought of iron
My mind is cased in steel
My bones are made of diamond
wrapped from head to heel

My skin is strung of turquoise
My hair is forged of gold
My eyes are raging fires
Secrets they must hold

My lungs are hollowed topaz
My blood runs liquid silver
My muscles burn with bronze
A flexing copper river

My lips shine like clear glass
My teeth are opal daggers
My nails are dipped in emerald
And sharper than the latter

My tears slip like sapphires
My screams scrape red like rust
My lashes glint with onyx
Dark and without trust

My armour made of metal
My shell, cast and sealed
Has covered me for so long
I’ve forgotten how to feel

Yet there is only one thing
That can crack this shield of mine
Love can rust the toughest metals
If you just take the time.
