I was given a Lump of Clay,
And I was told to make It art.
And though I knew that I would try,
I was scared deep in my heart.

And as I started shaping,
It dropped upon the ground.
And then It was all dusty,
With no hope to be found.

But still I kept on trying,
However It had many bumps.
I figured It was normal,
It wouldn’t end up in the dumps.

I decided to think of a name,
Though It was far from done.
I chose to call It Life,
And I knew It would be a good one.

The smell of buttery popcorn fills my nose
I snuggle up to Her and hear Her heartbeat
I feel Her chest rise slowly with each soft breath
I hear the movie playing in the background and the dogs barking

The door creaks open
C R E E E E E A K
I hear slow, heavy footsteps
C L I CK……C L I C K…….C L I C K
“I’m home!!” He announces
He disappears briefly into the room

He walks out and approaches Her and i on the couch
“Can you move so I can sit next to Her.” He asks

He gives me a look that’s enough to send shivers down my spine
His gaze piercing my skin
Daring me to say No.

i stare meekly back at Him
i stumble and stutter over my words
“Y-yeah….s-sure”

i look down at my feet and cross my arms as i stand
i walk quietly over to the other side of the couch with my head down

He puts His arms around Her
Her eyes twinkle in the soft light
They laugh along with the movie
Together

i sit in the corner

unnoticed and unimportant

A room
full of stepsisters,
no listening,
just talking.

Work starts,
with
talking AND,
listening.

Finally,
they do as told,
no talking,
just listening

until
the clock strikes,
and they
run
run
run
from the ball,

but keep their shoes.

I was asleep, tossing in my bed
I couldn’t get this thought outside of my head
The sun started to rise
I slowly opened my eyes

“Samantha Its time!”
I can’t help but sit and stare at the sunshine
Eventually I decided to get up
When I went to eat breakfast there was no juice in my cup

No cereal no nothing
I thought I would skip breakfast and just go get my clothing
I had on a flowy dress
I was hoping it would impress

My mom took me to the bus
I said bye but I had no time to discuss
Class after class it was so close!
My excitement was from my head to my toes!

The final bell rang, everyone rushed out
I could almost shout!
I got home and collapsed on my bed
I picked up a book and read

I was absolutely filled with cheer
Summer time was here

Okay, let’s climb.
today, i am at the bottom
with little to no experience of climbing.
in fact, i can barely stand
so i crawl little by little…

I am making my way up the mountain
with people surrounding me trying to help me
learn to climb and put one foot in front of the other.
today I saw a small dog,
but it was not just one mean and angry dog,
there were 5 dogs, ready to bring me down the mountain where they are.
I cried for help and help came
and I climbed little by little…

Things are getting tough.
The people who surrounded me,
I see them less and less.
I actually start to see more dogs.
but I have become experienced enough
to avoid them
and carry on my way.
Though there are times when I see
other people!
they come to support me and teach me how to climb
faster and faster…

It is time to head out on my own.
It is time to leave the group and
Carry my own weight. (Idiom)
I feel free.
I walk ahead
And here comes an
Avalanche
Tumbling down the mountain.
My luck is terrible.
I’m stuck in a pile of dismay
But just because I have gone ahead
Doesn’t mean they won’t catch up
And help me.
So I keep climbing little by little…

I have mastered it all.
Climbing, running, camping, and more.
But that really wasn’t special,
What was special was all of the memories made.
I am at the top…

I am a sphere
Like a plane soaring near your ear.
Whoosh!
Pitch done
Ball one!

Towards the plate I fly
Like a shooting star in the sky.
Pop!
You missed, son
Strike one!

Third time’s a charm
Like Babe Ruth, what an arm.
Boom!
Ow, crack of the bat
Home run that’s, that!

The sunshine tells the moon to fall asleep
It wakes the clouds
The sunshine feeds the flowers
Shouting
“Wake up”
“Wake up”

Sunshine sings to the world
Always joyful
The owls are put to sleep
While the sun c h a s e s the dark far away

Abolishing the cold and foggy nights
The sun is a gleaming diamond in the sky

The sunlight plays hide and seek with the clouds
It devoured the brilliant stars
Covering the sky with its blaze of light
A flickering fire in the sky

Splat! Splat! The clouds began to cry
The thunder clapped loudly across the sky
The street lights flickered, the lighting struck
The pizza delivery man quickly took off on his bike

The wind whistled loudly through the trees
The waves grew stronger in the sea
The clouds grew dark
The kids played in the rain at the park
Slowly, the storm calmed down
The sun came up, lighted up the town
There wasn’t a single cloud in sight
Now the town can live peacefully without being frighten

I start in a dark space
Look to the left
Then to the right
I wonder where I am

Just as I opened my mouth to speak
Stars appear above me
5 stars
15 stars
50 stars
100 stars
1000 stars
Soon they fill all of the darkness
Even when i look down
I seem to be floating
There are stars everywhere

The next thing that I know
The stars begin to produce a bright light
I blink one and I and in a forest
Full of many different greens
From flowers
To trees
To thousands of different animals
Crowding around me

I go to pet one
My hand making its way towards the little deer
Just when my hand lightly touched the deer’s head
CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP
The innocent deer turned into a monster
I looked around as all of the other animals turned too
Like a magic spell being casted upon them

Faces melting
Teeth growing
Like in a horror movie
They all stood there
Staring as their eyes all fell

They lunged forward
Trapping me underneath
I start to suffocate
Lions eating its prey
That’s what they are

Just as they were about to start another wave
I jolt up in a cold sweat
Breathing heavily
Like it would be my last
I look over at the lighted lilac alarm clock
Laying just beside my bed

4:37 it read

I sigh
Rolling over back onto my side
Not wanting to go back inside my mind

Just a dream i thought

It was all just a dream

Enclosed in these walls
Thinking all day,
Sometimes chiseling away
And being funny can get you taken away.
Still enclosed in these walls
Having to learn all day,
Can make you feel like your in…
Another place
A place to contemplate
Whether to flee or stay.
Having these thoughts all day
making it feel like
life is more than just one day.
While still thinking
is it worth it to stay?
Or should I just run,
from the guards, you run
miles away to a place…
a place far away.
Then it turns out its just a dream,
and having to walk to school
for another long day.
While scratching your head and
thinking away.
