FORGOTTEN

I open the door to see you but yet you wonder who? For you have forgotten
The love I have for you is as a full glass but yours is forgotten dull and old
I talk to you in quiet tones but you do not speak for you have forgotten

Who are you to come into my home
speak to me in quiet tones
But how could I tell you to leave
For my voice has been long ago forgotten

It’s as if I see the holes turning into chasms
Your mind was once a butterfly sanctuary but that was long ago the butterflies have all flown away
You still water the gray old grass
As night and day dance I still see you trying to play the game of life
I wake up one day and
You have forgotten
