Home

From white walls and wooden floors, to dogs and frends I am who I am.

From the smoke of the grill to the roof of my mouth, and the family all together, we are who we are

I am from John and Karen, with some of John and Gray too, from famly and friends and all who push us forwards, we are who we are

I am a Kitchen

I’m from air fryers,
From pizza scissors and spatulas.
I’m from beeping alarms, alerting everyone the dishwasher is done,
From blinding lights illuminating the house as you open the fridge at night.
I’m from the aloe vera plant in the windowsill,
Stretching eagerly towards the sun.
I’m from leftovers and penguin doodles on the pantry whiteboard,
From uneaten experiment dinners and long, boring days in the middle of July.
I’m from new family favorites,
From burnt pizza and overcooked fish.
I’m from crumbs on the counter,
From arguing over who needs to clean it up until we get bored and walk away.
I’m from “Start eating without me, I only have one more math problem,”
From banging on the walls calling everyone out of their rooms to come downstairs.
I am a Kitchen.

Outside

While a father and son are playing soccer,
The moms are chatting in the field.
As one kid tries to ride a scooter,
A dog is going around and giving kisses.
Six toys are as still as a frightened chameleon,
While the wind howls without a care.

The cotton candy colored clouds
Prepare our appetite for the ice-cream truck.
As the end of our day nears,
We all go inside like hibernating bears

How it Used to Be

My house used to be messy and undecided, but now it’s clean and tidy

My dog used to be lively and playful, but now he sleeps on the floor waking to the smell of food

A room only to be used for guests now has all my precious belongings inside it

My life used to be slow and relaxed, but now I have to work on projects and homework

My TV was watched for me and my sister’s entertainment, but now it’s only used for watching on special occasions

My bed used to be under my sister’s bed, but now it fits snugly next to a wall

Water used to come out of thermoses, but now comes out of a filtered tap

My teeth used to have nothing to worry about, but now I wear an expander

My toys used to be used every day, but now I only use them on special occasions

Sleeping used to happen at 8:00 pm, but now it happens at 9:00-9:30 pm

Computer time used to happen never, but now I use one every day

Exploring the Sublime

The axolotl swims with a splash,
Gliding through the water with a gracefulness unworthy of human sight,
Her movements so fluid, like a gentle hum,
In harmony with nature, a peaceful drum.
With a chirp and a chirp, she calls out to her mate,
Their bond unbreakable, a love so great,
Their world below, a symphony of sounds,
Echoing through the murky grounds.
So let us marvel at this creature divine,
With a flip and a flop, in this watery shrine,
Let us protect and cherish, for all time,
The axolotl, a treasure that truly shines

I used to but now

I used to be happy at the beginning of the day But now I’m tired close to the end of the day. I used to be upset going into the seventh period but now that I’m here I’m better than ever. I used to be lonely with no friends at the start but now I have more friends than I have ever thought. I used to be tired not woke at all cause it was the end of the day and I was drowned in my sorrow. I used to not care about all this school work but now that they put the grade in, I have to dig my brain out of the grave.
