Blue is waves crashing on the sandy shore,
Like bouncing on a cloud.
Blue feels like letting go,
Like diving in and feeling cool water rush past you.
Blue feels calm and fierce,
Like the cloudless skies of our summer days on Earth.
Blue is pretty like that one perfect daisy in a meadow full of flowers,
Like the water that keeps me alive every day.
Blue is the feeling of whipping through the air,
Like, the lazy weekend days when you don’t have to care.
Blue is Bluely Bluetiful,
Like the life we live every day.

All the Things We Can Change
All these problems
Polluted air,
Trashed oceans.
Endangered animals,
Fallen rainforests.
Many people think more is a good thing,
But for this, it’s not.
Because there are more problems in this world,
Than anybody can count.
That is probably the biggest problem.
The more minor problems are the ones you can change.
We can change the larger problems.
Together,
As a team.
The Earth has always given us life,
So, in return, we should be kind to it.
There are so many ways to help,
Whether it’s something small by yourself,
Or, something bigger with your community.
Forever there will be a world for you.
Life for you.
But it will only stay if you keep it safe.
Because this is your world.
And it’s up to you to save it.
When There’s a Double Rainbow
When there’s a double rainbow,
The wind will blow,
The sun will show,
The clouds will glow,
And you will go “Whoa”.
When there’s a single rainbow,
The wind will blow with woe,
The sun will go,
The clouds will out of sadness make it snow,
And you will go “Noooo”.
And that is what happens when a double rainbow appears!
That’s also what happens when a single rainbow appears.
They have a very different effect on the weather.
So which would you want, a double rainbow or a single rainbow?
Hot Chocolate
The smell of hot cocoa is in the air,
Fluffy marshmallows floating on its surface.
A pool of melted cocoa,
Hot cocoa is a winter special.
Hot cocoa warms you up better than anything else,
And thaws one’s bitter cold hands.
Just with milk and a spoonful of magic powder,
Hot cocoa is the simplest of simple.
Hot cocoa fills you with a warm, fuzzy feeling,
And gives you a cup full of happiness.
Hot cocoa builds the winter spirit,
Right up inside you.
Hot cocoa is a steaming hot mug,
Filled with warm chocolatey goodness.
Hot cocoa is just a pool of melted cocoa,
Just waiting to fill one’s body with that fuzzy feeling.
The Ocean
The ocean, just like all of us, swaying and sometimes on the bumpy side.
Knowing that we always find our way home, following the bright glow of the moonlit sky.
Watching the sun and the moon go by me and the sand touches the tips of my cold, salty water and the moon crying as it awakes.
The sun soaring off the beautiful face of the sky.
I see one glow shining brighter than the tiny stars.
The moon is as big and beautiful as can be.
The hard stream of the rain trickles, and as soon as I know it, the clouds are covering my moon.
I feel as stiff as the metal bars of a prison.
Trying to reach out, but the droplets pushing me down.
I’m not able to see the face of sky, with my moon disappearing into the grey clouds.
That moon was my heart, and that moon was as sweet as a tart.
I wash away in the seaside of the shore.
I hope my moon will come back.
Never lacking my moon forever more in the starry night with the little glimpses of the tiny stars around it.
I know I will see my luminescent moon again.
Toledo Bend
Toledo Bend is a lake that covers the horizon like a blanket of excitement
Sitting on a dock staring at the color-changing sunset wishing you could fly up and touch it
Tubing with a speedboat going 70 mph while seagulls fly above your head like they want to join in
Staying up late so you can have a BBQ with strangers, but somehow they feel like family
Wishing, hoping, and dreaming that you could stay here forever to enjoy the BBQs, tubing, sunsets, and the lake
But you know that you have to go and come again next Summer
I still feel that Toledo Bend is my home, it’s the place where I belong
I Am From These Moments
I am from my bunk bed in my room
From my two dogs at my house
I am from a crawfish catching family
I am from my favorite video game waiting for me after school
I am from Grandma and Grandpa’s house
And from my mom saying “do your homework”
And playing tag with my friends
I am from the fig tree I used to climb
Whose figs ripen every July and August
And from the pumpkin pie and biscuits and gravy on family gatherings
I am from those moments when peaceful waterfalls
come down the North Carolina mountains
Daddy Lost Me
Daddy lost me a month ago and checked every place he knew
The diner, the basketball court, and the great big blue
He checked my doctor and my dentist too
He even checked the neighbor’s bathroom where everyone did their poo
Although he checked every place he knew
He never thought to check the place he left me,
Right here in my room, still waiting for him to take his turn while we were playing Clue
Weird Opposites
The darkest day, the lightest night,
I’ve gone with both without a fright
A flying turtle, a slow, slow bird
I haven’t seen them, I’m not a nerd
The tallest bug, the shortest giraffe
I’ve been with both without a laugh
The darkest day, the lightest night
I’ve gone both without a fright
Sunset
An elephant from another
dimension, where their floor is
our sky, stomped and
ripped our sky open, a grey
and pink gradient gap.
