Lost

Lost your way,
Where are they?
Where to turn?
Too much to learn
Sun’s gone down,
But home’s not found

Alleys, paths
Internal wrath
Which way to go?
I don’t know
Endless walking,
No one talking

Getting near,
Mild fear
Look around
Now home is found!

“Know your Role”

Mama said I was born at 6:00 in the evening. Rosy cheeks and bright cherry lips. She named me Summer I reminded her of sunshine. I am the younger sister to my older brother but I’m a big sister to 3 others. “I know my role” I am a daughter first a sister and friend. “I know my role” I am a pretty brown girl, I am smart, and I am sweet .
sometimes I dress weird and I’m not neat. “I know my role” I love art because there are no rules I am free to be me “I know my role” Math is my favorite it challenges me. At one time it was hard for me to read the words looked funny and hard for me to understand I did not give up I worked hard every day because “I know my role” My little sister copies everything I do I don’t like it but I know that I’m a person she looks up to. “I know my role” Do you know yours?

Change

When something’s different from before
Simple, yet hard

When present becomes just a memory
Simple, yet hard

When something goes from being to unbeing
Simple, yet hard

What makes tears become an ocean
Hard for me,
Tough,

Difficult,

but more.

Swallowing up the love
Things that are loved,
Loved by me.
Replaced by something that doesn’t stand quite as tall,
Leaving the space feeling

Empty.

Season’s Greetings

Summer is the best
Today summer is not here
Today is winter

Fall,
Leaves falling,
Trees taking off their clothes
Bare trees
Waiting for winter
Like hibernating animals
Fall,

Snow, snow is the best
Snow always falls in winter
Gliding to the ground

Spring,
Trees dressing up in green
Flowers sprouting
Buds forming like a new born baby
So many wonders come in spring
(Like my birthday)
Spring is all that
Spring,

Plastic

I’d like to say nature is my inspiration,
But the woods right now are in devastation
What can take the place of a flower?
What in all of heaven’s power?
Plastic, of course!
It kills grouse and fowl,
Plastic of course!
In pain wolves howl.
Littering the ocean, forests, and cities
Plastic makes things better, because plastic is so pretty.
Plastic pollution? Never heard
Never a look, never a word!
Only sighs and goodbyes
To the environment.

Guinevere

Ah lady fair with raven hair
Who stares into a mirror
See how her face doth appear:
Our fair Lady Guinevere!
Lancelot she tries to impress
Wearing a blue silken dress
Ack — her life is such a mess!
She had an oh so beautiful
Mirror of gold. Her lovely face
So pale, so cold.

Gold

The food of the foolish,
Awful conquistador
He thought of one thing
Of this, he wanted more and more.

It was the center of many a fight
Those who wielded it had great might.
Beautiful plethora of gold,
Henceforth pawned… now sold!

Valkyrie

Beautiful Valkyrie
Flying across the sea
Planting a kiss on me.
Wearing armor of metal
Lovely as a rose petal.

She had nerves of steel
She was just and full of zeal.
She assured me she was real.
Said she “Enjoy this day with pleasure
Let your bravery have countless measure.”

And then she flew away,
Leaving me to shout “wait!”
