Ocean Waves

WHAM!
A wave splats over me
Like a playful slap in the face

The sun
Is a glowing marble
That tans me

The waves
Pile on top of each other
And strike

The wind
Blows hard
Cooling the sun
Strengthening the waves

The waves
build up in a
Blue
Shiny
Clear heap
And rushes forward

It crashes down
In foam
And rushes down
To shore

Bending down
Gets me more wet
And lets me have more fun

There are hot patches
And cold patches
In the Ocean waves
They both freshen everything

It’s difficult to get out of
The ocean
The waves pull me in
And I don’t want
To get out

The Hunt

I pose in the grass,
Tense, alert.
My nose twitches.
My ears perk up, turning and twisting,
Listening to the small shifts and shuffles in the trees.
My tail stands stiff.
My muscles are tightened and quivering,
At the sound of leaves rustling.
My hackles rise.
Though I am silent now,
A booming thunder skips around in my throat.
WOOSH!
Something leaps from one tree to another.
I jolt through the underbrush,
My sharp eyes scanning the branches above.
My heart pounds like it’s going to burst out of my chest.
The thunder in my throat bounces out and
EXPLODES
Into ferocious, rumbling
GROWLS
And deep, echoing
BARKS!
I spot the fluffy, russet-colored demon…
SQUIRREL!!

Nature’s Song

Escaping from my boring home
I go outside and explore
There’s nothing but the grass and trees
But listen carefully and you will see

Nature with their own cool band
A fresh new song everyday
A robin calls clear as day
as the eccentric band begins today

The leaves start dancing
The sound of babies rustling
The ecstatic noise of squirrels clicking
Joining the buzzing of a hummingbird

The blinding sun sets slowly
As darkness lazily creeps
The graceful birds leap
Into the marvelous pink sky

The Muddy Dog

The Muddy Dog – (A tribute to all Muddy Dogs)

The dog walks in with mud on its nose
How it became muddy well nobody knows
It’s fluffy like cotton or like a sheep
It starts barking in its sleep
But the thing you should see
Is what’s hidden underneath

If it hears a boom if it hears a clap
It’ll start hiding right under your mat
Slobbery, snuggly, snoozes like a log
I know it’ll help me when I’m in the fog
And whether or not you need a hug
It’s always there to give you one
And when I’m scared and I’m alone
They cuddle me so I feel at home

So the next time you start to shoo him away
Take him home and let him stay
Because the muddy dog is here to play
And he’s always there to save my day

When I look into your soulful eyes
You’re the reason I love dogs and you make me smile
Every day when I come home
You make me feel wanted
Wanted like a criminal
Wanted in this world

Thank you to all the muddy dogs in this world!

Covid

Covid,
You can’t see it and yet it manages to kill people.
It surges through the world
with its wings flapping on it’s back,
silently doing it’s work to the innocent townspeople
like a black bird soaring through the night sky looking for it’s next kill.
You lost everything to it.
All the big leaders can talk all they want but they don’t know what the pain feels like.
People behind the scenes are risking their life everyday
and they get no credit.
It spikes.

You open your mouth and scream,
you scream for all those who didn’t get justice,
you scream for your mom.
Your scream
pierces the world with a sense of lost hope.
But a glimmer of light shines through the once closed doors
Hope is finally spreading its wings
You know the future will be better
Covid,
Silent but deadly.

Come to Life

Exactly at 7:00 pm everyday, things change,
like they move in my room.
My fairy lights laugh and dance around in the dark.
My stuffed animal runs off the bed and starts to sing opera.
The picture of the turtle on my calendar comes to life and gracefully jumps into water.
My blankets come out of the cabinets and boogie their way across the hallway.
But if I look, the magic disappears. So at exactly 7:00, I close my door, close my window and sit in the hallway listening to all what my room can do.

The Earths Response

The Earth, if my eyes deceive, was clean and clear until us humans came
We polluted, we destroyed and the Earth shed a tear and tried to blow us away
But we stayed here
As we kept on hurting her the Earth tried to cope, ice caps-melting, Covid-killing
But we stayed here
Nothing was working, we became to strong, so as we create a vaccine the Earth sang for help,
And as she sang, and as global warming got worse, nobody came
so we stayed here
Black death, chickenpox, yellow fever, all were ways to drive us out, but we didn’t notice
So we shall stay here

The Song of Nature

Robins sing their melodious sound,
thunder rumbles the sky and the ground.
Fish swim in oceans peacefully,
flashes of lightning penetrate the sea.
Vast forests where tall trees stand,
venomous serpents hidden beneath the desert sand.
Creatures live together without a fight,
until the day gives way to the darkness of night.
There is a place for every rock, stick, and bird,
where the Song of Nature can be heard.
