A Devil’s Tear

Drip, drip
The sound of tears
Echoing down the halls.
Everyone staring,
No one bothering
To help the broken soul.
Pushing the tears away,
Standing up,
Only to fall back down again.
Tattered clothes,
Dirty face,
Broken wings,
Shattered heart-
A devil.
It’s all the others see,
A devil’s face.
Afraid,
Scared out of their minds,
So fake.
No one cares,
About a stupid devil.
Everyone brushing by,
Hurting her,
Ignoring her,
Slowly killing her.
‘I’m fine’
Hoping that she could mean it some day,
She smiles.
A forced smile,
Everyone will believe she’s happy.
Angels with demonic souls,
Not bothering to even smile at her.
Tears slip down her cheeks but she stands up
And she walks as if nothing ever happened.
But who cares?
As long as it’s just a tear-
A devil’s tear.

Coral

In the lukewarm ocean
Past the kelp forests
A huge beast lies,
Home to many

The final refuge to many a creature
The beast’s colorful scales shelter the small

A thriving community takes place in its fins
And its brightly colored tail

But
It is slowly dying
Turning ghostly white
When it dies
Many will perish

Fate may be inevitable
But we can help
Slow the dying and make new homes
For the creatures living inside the gentle beast of
Coral

A Christmas Catastrophe

We were by the big Christmas tree,
Me and my dear family.
A knock at the door,
At twelve fifty-four,
On the great night of Christmas Eve.

I couldn’t believe my two eyes,
It was truly a nice surprise,
To look out the door,
And see no one more…
Santa Claus himself in the sky!

We looked down and saw a gift box,
The size of a small baby fox.
We looked up then fast,
And we saw at last,
Old Nick’s bag didn’t have locks!

We got in the car really fast,
All the other cars seen were passed.
For we knew that the,
‘18 Christmas Eve,
Would get ruined if we were last.

The label said “Johnny Tweet”,
Who lives on the end of the street,
Looks after bird eggs,
And their tiny bird legs,
Without gifts his day is not neat!

We got to his house before Nick,
I gave the present a kick.
It went in the big sack,
Nick looked over his back,
And left with the reindeer’s click

We went back home quietly
Me and my dear family
We silently swore,
To say nothing more
And enjoy Christmas Eve.

Overcome

Something we all have…

Some choose to deny it

Some choose to embrace it

Some are conquered by it

And some make it their everything to conquer it

We are consumed by it

Our biggest obstacle

No escaping, no hiding

But those who choose to vanquish this from their lives

Are the ones that succeed

But that is a feat of the greatest lengths

Even the greatest of people try this journey of astronomical proportions

And come back empty-handed

We have to break through

We have to realize it can’t hold us

So many people try to find a solution

But people have to understand, there is no formula

So many inspirations yet so many infections

There is no cure, to this virus that everyone has had since the beginning

It is what has made us the way we are, cautious, afraid, careful

People feel like they’re on the edge

People feel like their not good enough

People are trapped by their own thoughts

People are held back

It does that to everyone, no matter who you are

Fear

My Happy Place

When I’m feeling really sad
I go to my happy place
Where houses sit on rainbows
And stairs are lined with lace

Where days are filled with stars
And nights are filled with light
Where you can dream up candy
If you wish with all your might

Where puppies grow on trees
And kittens have soft hair
Where wishes rise into the sky
And smile in the air

Maybe if you’re feeling down
Or miserable or blue
Then you can close your eyes and go
To my happy place too

Rights

Why does the
black teen have to watch his back every second he looks back meanwhile you see these white kids not have to worry about a gun to their back. Why do we accept there’s gonna be a better life cause the truth is that if there was one then it would have changed by now
***
Why does the young Latino have to worry about his family being taken away every second of his day.
Why does the 7 year old girl have to hear her teacher say go to Mexico in her ear .
***
This is a war, a social cancer if it was gonna change then someone would have had the answer.

Why do people look at a black person and assume that their a part of a gang maybe they just want to hang
and be who they are for a day cause come Monday their expected to talk like someone their not, walk like someone their not , and be someone their not

People say white people talk “better” but really if we go back blacks talk like that cause the whites
Would not let blacks learn to read or write and made us think that all our life we were gonna stay in fright
in fright that we would never
Take our talents to the top

We need to start looking up to the light and getting our heads screwed on right. Why do we have to fight for a better life when these should be human rights.

Glasses

Purple, thin, and light
I put them over my eyes.
The second pair of glasses I’ve had.
The first was quite heavy.

I open my eyes.
Open, shut. Open, shut.

Everything comes into focus
I explore my no-longer-blurry world.
The lenses are so pure, so unblemished.

My grandfather says, “Now you can see the ants on the ground.”

I feel like I could see the craters on the Moon.
