Dyslexia
I live in a world of dyslexia,
not many see this world.
The daily task of dyslexia
makes life double as hard.
Where words D
A
N
C
E on the page.
Words mispeled left and right,
when I read out loud nothing makes sense.
I leave off ings and I misplace commas
I read slower than everyone else
But I am creative,
and I am more curious,
and I think outside the box,
and I am aware of my environment,
and I see the bigger picture of everything.
My world with dyslexia isn’t perfect,
but not at all bad.
Sure there is some conflict,
but there are bonuses that add.
shhhh!
shhhh!
you whisper, wind whistling
through the eaves
feet crunching on
dry autumn leaves.
shhhh!
creeping through the
dark, damp alley
keep going
don’t dilly-dally.
shhhh!
the fog carries ghosts
looming overhead
one wrong step
and you could be mislead.
shhhh!
the abandoned building
towers above
silencing the world around
closing in like a glove.
shhhh!
blend with the shadows
melt into the wall
don’t listen to their hair-raising
howling call.
shhhh!
don’t tell a soul you saw me
don’t tell a soul you did.
don’t tell a soul you were here
hidden, off the grid.
shhhh!
delve into the darkness
for they have come at last
come, follow
and forget your past.

I saw the shoe so shiny,
With ribbons
Red as red velvet pie,
Um, excuse me, miss…
Cindy.
Could I get those pair of
Shoes
“Oh, certainly.
I’ll go ring these up for you”
Cha-

“Why here you go,”
Thank yo-
Um, excuse me,
There only one shoe.
“Oh no, another shoe lost!
My boss is going to kill me!
…
“Cinderella!!!”
The boss yelled.

My dog
My dog loves to play.
After she plays she likes to lay.
What a day!
My dog eats a lot.
Then she likes to BARK!
She barks at the neighbors dog,
Which drives my mom nuts.
My dog is energetic.
Sweet and kind.
My dog is the best dog!
She waits by the door
When I’m at school.
When i come back she
Does circles around the room.

A Lump of Clay
I was given a Lump of Clay,
And I was told to make It art.
And though I knew that I would try,
I was scared deep in my heart.
And as I started shaping,
It dropped upon the ground.
And then It was all dusty,
With no hope to be found.
But still I kept on trying,
However It had many bumps.
I figured It was normal,
It wouldn’t end up in the dumps.
I decided to think of a name,
Though It was far from done.
I chose to call It Life,
And I knew It would be a good one.
Movie night
The smell of buttery popcorn fills my nose
I snuggle up to Her and hear Her heartbeat
I feel Her chest rise slowly with each soft breath
I hear the movie playing in the background and the dogs barking
The door creaks open
C R E E E E E A K
I hear slow, heavy footsteps
C L I CK……C L I C K…….C L I C K
“I’m home!!” He announces
He disappears briefly into the room
He walks out and approaches Her and i on the couch
“Can you move so I can sit next to Her.” He asks
He gives me a look that’s enough to send shivers down my spine
His gaze piercing my skin
Daring me to say No.
i stare meekly back at Him
i stumble and stutter over my words
“Y-yeah….s-sure”
i look down at my feet and cross my arms as i stand
i walk quietly over to the other side of the couch with my head down
He puts His arms around Her
Her eyes twinkle in the soft light
They laugh along with the movie
Together
i sit in the corner
unnoticed and unimportant
A Substitute from a Fairytale
A room
full of stepsisters,
no listening,
just talking.
Work starts,
with
talking AND,
listening.
Finally,
they do as told,
no talking,
just listening
until
the clock strikes,
and they
run
run
run
from the ball,
but keep their shoes.
