Beach Tritina

At the beach the graceful waves
constantly crash on the cream colored sand,
I’m wearing my glasses to block out the bright sun

as I go down the wooden boardwalk the sun
burns my skin while my family waves
to me from the glowing sand,

i step onto the soft sand
heated by the burning sun
then rush into the glistening waves,

sand rubbing my skin, waves against my chest, the sun shines down from above.

Brothers

there I was with my best friend
my one and only
we would laugh and play
he’d follow me around like a magnet
just as it was meant to be

but…
as time passed we grew older
we were not as close
we made different friends–
our personal belongings that the other could not touch
just as it was meant to be

we tried to keep them for ourselves
but our friends took different paths
and once again, all that was left was us
just as it was meant to be

Brothers.

The Oak’s Journey

the beautiful oak standing tall
sunlight pouring down onto it
it’s vines tangled around the stem
it’s branches reaching out and away

the roots clawing themselves into the ground
Keeping the oak standing tall
it’s leaves as green as the color itself

Old oak, standing tall
with red and orange leaves falling, and drifting away
From the crisp autumn winds

Old oak. Standing at its tallest
Being at its oldest
With no leaves left
WIth no life left

Anxiety

you can try and make it go away
the ghost of your past, present, and future has come to stay
you can ignore or even fight
but the second it steps into your life, it will not let you out of sight

sometimes it might go away for a second or even a day,
but you know deep down it will always stay
it makes your stomach ache and it hurts your head
it makes you rethink any choice, even something you said

your ghost can be helpful sometimes too
because this ghost isn’t like the ones that say “boo”
i have chosen to just ignore mine
but you can choose a different path, that’s your story to define

The Beautiful Branch

There was once a branch, the branch I walk past everyday.
I always notice how tight it holds on to the tree in every way.
But no matter how tight it grasps the tree,
It could jump to the ground any day like a kid scraping his knee.

The branch is beautiful, it looks like a flower on a sunny day.
It has dark smooth brown bark,
and every color leaf you could imagine.
I watch as it slowly dances in the wind.

One stormy day as I pass by the tree,
I stop, because the branch was staring at me.
Watching the branches sway side to side,
Until all of a sudden, BOOM! Lightning cried
and strikes the branch to suddenly drop.

I watch as the leafs slowly fall off and
the branch loses the color over time,
It looks like the sky on a gloomy day.
Now every morning I pass by the tree
I remember the beautiful branch,
and I will never forget the day it fell.

Football

The leathery pigskin ball,
made for thanksgiving day.
The laces fit perfect in my left hand!
A sport that’s-
hardworking and grueling,
painful and tiring.

You give it your all or,
go back home.

The crack of the pads,
Crack, pop, Crack, pop.
The whistle of the ball,
calls me home.

Players running round the field like,
a bee zipping through the sky.

FOOTBALL is one of the,
best games to ever be,
made.

The Forest

In the dark scary night
The trees rocked back and forth
Like they were dancing
The leaves flew away like a kite

The wind howled
Like a werewolf
The birds were silent
As silent as a mouse

The river was flowing fast
Saying hi then bye
but at the same time

There were monsters
Hunting for kids

The forest was mute
But there were children
They were playing in the forest
They saw the monster
It was standing tall
Almost as big as Big Foot

You could see the fear in their faces
They RAN and RAN
They SCREAMED and SCREAMED
They shouted “AHHH!!”
But then the Forest went silent again

The Perfect Pet

“Are we there yet, are we there yet?”
the excitement ringing in my ear.
we arrived at the pet store.
buying my first pet like my first present.
trying to find something fuzzy,
or scaley.
i can’t find the right one.
i looked through all the aisles.
“Did we check the back?”
there it was…
spikly, spotted, smooth.
i found perfect pet.
i look down at the name tag…
it said…
Godzilla.

Independent

You’re telling me in HEB
That I can’t buy soda with my own money
Even though it’s buy one get one free!
You’re like an Xbox controller, except
instead of controlling a character,
you’re controlling me

You see, I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place
If I go one way I’m being micromanaged
and my independence is taken away…
If I go the other way I’ll have my independence
But I’ll get punished for ignoring the crappy controller
controlling me

Even though I sometimes disagree,
I know that you’re looking out for my safety
and you want me to be happy
and healthy
And when I finally turn 18
I know that independence will come to me

You see I’m glad you’re looking out for me
But the truth is…
I don’t like being told what to do
How to do it
When to do it
But do you know what I do like?
I like constructive criticism…

I only want that controller out when I need help
I’m capable of figuring things out myself
So only bring that controller out
When I start to scream and shout
And when I’m the to beg for help
Now hopefully you’ve figured out
That I don’t always need you to help me out

I’m independent,
meaning
I try my best to depend on myself

The Uber Driver

Fast and furious,
Zooming through
the streets.
People Stare,
but she doesn’t care.

“Destination?”, she asks.
“Oh um Time Square.”, replies the passenger.
Flying Car? Super Powers?
Strong, beautiful, smart driver.

She wore a red
and blue steel dress.
An incredible head band
and best of all the
fanciest boots ever.

“I appreciate the ride”, thanked the passenger.
“Of course, no need to thank me.
Next time you need a ride request me.”, proudly announced
