An Ode to Cookies

You could offer me ice cream or brownies,
Or other treats meant for rookies.
But above all the cake and candy and cream,
I prefer freshly baked cookies.

“Why cookies?” you might ask.
Well I’ll have you see.
Unlike donuts or muffins,
They are very crispy.

From oatmeal raisin to chocolate chip,
From sugar to double fudge.
Bring me any kind of cookie,
And I won’t be a harsh judge.

Cookies are cheap, cookies are good,
Cookies are easy to make.
Ice cream is costly, candy tastes weird,
And cake is a hassle to bake.

I think by now I’ve made my point –
Cookies are the bomb!
Besides, I have to wrap this up,
For I can’t go without cookies for long.

Christmas Tree

Standing Tall by the fire,
pine needles dRift.
Lights, strEamers, and ornaments
hang from the bEautiful bending branches.
But most importantly of all,
the Christmas Star is looming in the sky,
Just like all those years ago.

Colorful presents resT and wait
until ChRistmas Day.
ChildrEn wait for the day like a lion,
ready to pouncE on its prey.

This is a very special time for everyone,
And right in the middle of it all,
is the great Christmas Tree.

I wonder

My life is a rollercoaster,
up, down and twisted around.
I never have understood and I
never will inderstand why we call
Earth our
ONLY
happy place. Some people say we can only live on Earth but I believe we can
live anywhere if we try.
I’m shooken around not right and I wonder how
just how
we humans have gotten this far.
I wonder………

Cactus

Posing all day
Some kind of model
Two long green arms at its side
One long body as it’s base

Hard to get rid of
Spread like wildfire
More and more until they-
Enclose you

Flowers bloom on these creatures
Accepting them as who they are on the inside

Protection from death or-
Death’s little helpers
Holds water
For the desert mouth

Appearances aren’t everything
For they deceive the eye

Earthquake

The world is shaking
Everything is

slipping
Hoping for helping or saving
Some people missing

It’s a sudden attack
You can’t move forward
Or go back
Everything is in disorder

It’s a cataclysm
Everything going crazy
Including geomagnetism
Everyone is hazy

It’s an Earthquake
There is no aid
Giving you a headache
And then the world gets REMADE

Meters

METERS
That’s how close I am to the victory
But obstacles are pushing me faster than Usain Bolt

Restaurants are not allowing me
Water fountains are divided due to diversity
Forced to sit in the back of the bus because of what skin color I was born with

Stopping segregation is like finishing Medical University
Both take time and understanding
And many people don’t want to try it

Life is like spying
The only way to get privileges is by sneaking in.
JUST METERS.

Autumn Fun

Having fun
In autumn sun
Facing heat
Waiting for the cold to catch up
Burning like a flame
That has no hate
Ready for cold
The flame burned out
And the bold
Windy nights
That have no fright of the darkness
Just to wait another year
For autumn to come around

Pain

Pain.

Sucks the joy from your soul.

Places you in bed all day.

Makes you think of nothing but the

Throbbing

Aching

Burning

Sensations radiating through your body.

Sticks to you like glue, not going anywhere.

Fills your heart with sorrow.

Fills your head with fog.

The inside is a war zone,

But the outside is a fake smile.

The inside is invisible.

They don’t understand

Since they can’t see it.

Pain.
