life is like a river

It has terrible twist and turns
Rocks that will tip you over
But water that will keep you going
It won’t stop going until it dries out

Some parts are smooth
Some are rough
Its crazy, chaotic
then calm and cool

Life is tough
You can’t just walk through life
You have to swim through the river

The Pitch of Black

Looking at black
Hoping that heaven will shine
Over this dark patch of blank

What would you expect it show its blank
Still nothing but black
No wink of light to shed that shine

Are you still waiting for that shine
Why are you still here there’s nothing but blank
What do you want to see I can only give you black

I can’t give you what you want to see something other than blank or black where is your shine

Fencing

Ready?
Fence
Both fencers leap
Off the line
Faster than your eyes can process
One goes for the lung
Before they can finish
Swish
Goes the other’s blade
Parrying the attack
Wham
The blade smacks into the opponent’s mask
Each point the fencers get
More and
More
Tired
But one
Is Faster
And Wins
Their blade
Faster
Their feet
Quicker

Anxiety

The definition of “Anxiety Disorder” is

“specific psychiatric disorders that involve extreme fear or worry, and includes generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), panic disorder and panic attacks, agoraphobia, social anxiety disorder, selective mutism, separation anxiety, and specific phobias”

What the lists of disorders don’t tell
They don’t tell you
That anxiety attacks feel like
Feel like you’re drowning
Drowning in the abyss
That is your own brain
Your own thoughts build up
An infinite chasm if torture
Never letting you leave the dungeon in their depths

Catching Stars

Every star is an opportunity
A chance to take a stand and change the community
Wish on each star no matter how high
You will never know what could happen if you don’t even try

Every morning getting out of your bed
You suddenly hear a voice in your head
Of all the things you wish you could do
As the day goes on the voice only grew
The sun, moon, and the stars up above
Are calling you to a new passion you love
You scared that if you do what you want
Everyone at school is just going to taunt

Every star is an opportunity
A chance to take a stand and change the community
Why would you let that go
Just to have a better reputation with people you don’t even know
You are a star so go catch your dreams fast
You never know if this opportunity could be your last

The Ferris Wheel

The loud music rings through my ears.
The smell of popcorn and sweet candy swirl throughout the air.
I find myself zoning out not able to hear the rest of the peoples muffled cheers.
I never looked at high it went up, inside my head was already forming thoughts of despair.

The big wheel now stopped, which spun at a slow pace ahead of me just a few seconds before.
Stopping only to let joyed people on board.

I was next up.
Fear struck my body.
Man, it did go high up.

I looked to the side of my loved one.
Who stood strong and tall with no fear in their eyes.
Who was I?
Was I going to get too scared and not go on?
No, I wouldn’t let myself do that.
For them, my loved one.

I took one last look and hopped on one of the bright red passenger cars that were parked in front of me.
It wobbled under my weight.
Then found balance below my two feet.

3, 2, 1, lift-off.

As I was freely drifting through the sky I felt as if I finally found myself, as if I woke up a part of my body I didn’t know was there, I felt free.

I was free.

Joyful Time of Year

It’s that time of year,
All the holiday cheer,
Singing snowy songs,
As we walk along,
Wishing a Merry Christmas,
And a Happy New Year.

Red and green and white,
Flashing and glowing all through the night,
The silhouette of the Christmas tree,
Is most wonderful, don’t you agree?
Ornaments of all different shapes and sizes,
And an angel as beautiful as can be.

Kids frolic and play,
On that wonderful white day,
Stockings filled and presents await,
To be opened and emptied,
And to put a smile on everyone’s face.

Traditions of decorating the tree,
Listening to joyful songs,
Making gingerbread houses,
And going on trips to magical places,
Is what makes a Merry Christmas,
And a Happy New Year.

Memories

Memories
fury, relief
memories in my head
hypnotizing me.
Memories
racking my brain searching the recesses
of my mind.
But there was nothing there.
Don’t try to remember, You can’t,
its too dangerous.
I have all these questions, curious.
I was afraid…
