Eyes ahead

When I close my eyes anything is possible
But when I open my eyes I feel I cannot do anything
However today’s a new day that I can make a new choice
Today’s another day I can choose to not sleep with my dreams
but I wake up and chase them
Though the road might be tough in the end
I’ll never lose sight with what’s ahead

Winter cheer

trillions of people know the best season is winter
even though we have no snow
there’s still time for holiday cheer

the streets are full of cheer
people shout it’s finally winter
maybe someday there will be snow

frost lounges on roofs and yards, mistaken for snow
my mom bakes cookies to spread family cheer
my sister and i watch christmas movies to honor winter

oh how we all love spreading winter cheer and celebrating our diverse holidays even if there is no snow

Homework

There the pile of homework lies
The one thing I most despise
There seems to be no end in sight
Over and over again each night

Oh homework, I dislike you a bunch
Why do teachers assign so much?
Homework, you cause me to stress
And make my nights such a mess

Homework, you are a thorn in my side
You always have my hands tied
I am so tired; I want to cry
But I know I have to give it a try

Homework is like a nail in the coffin
Why do we have to be buried so often?

My Happiness

Happiness is a thing with frosting
It sits on the table and waits
It can be any color of the rainbow
It’s fun to eat, but even more to bake!

You ask what’s behind the frosting
It’s really hard to describe
So many different flavors
It makes me feel alive!

Let’s talk about the toppings
My favorite is rainbow sprinkles
Maybe yours is different
But when I see it my eyes twinkle

Into The Night And Back

Out from under the bridge like a silhouette in the distance,
Bats fly from under, they go to feed.
Darkness creeps with the moonlight.

Up at dusk, the moon won.

Out from the secret places they call home come,
Predators begin to hunt for prey.
Like a giant flashlight with its long white fingers claiming the night for day,
The big ball of gas rises to fight the moon with all its might.

Into the day and back,
The prey of the day slips from the predator of the night.
Each outshining the other in their battle
Into the night and back.

Up at dawn the sun won.

Small Boy

Small boy
BIG world
The contrast is sharp,
Makes him seem unimportant, but he’s not.
Not to me, not to Reese, not to Anne Claire.

An adorable little boy,
He lived right down the street,
So fun he was to play with,
He was funny and sweet.

A voice that sounds like a smile,
A grin that lights up his face,
Grey eyes that were always sparkling,
and a laugh that made my day.

Small boy,
Big heart,
So funny,
And filled with love,
Wasn’t that far away.

Now he’s farther than ever,
In a place I cannot reach now,
But I loved him then and forever,
And now I’m lost,
Hoping to be found.

A young life,
A high price to pay,
His loss hurts like a knife,
At random times.

Small boy,
Big heart,
So funny,
And filled with love,
And he has never felt farther away.

Winter Mystery

Winter is a mystery
It has dark unknown things
With magical blistery
Weather and see what always brings

There are dark wonders
In this wonderful land
Where sometimes I ponder
With thoughts that may never go as planned

Sometimes you get lost
Where your mind is in light
But you are crossed
With magic that is like the sun, so bright

WInter is a wonderful calling
But there are secrets of darkness
In this time snow could start

Winter is fantastic, but could be something that is heartless

Winter comes and goes
With still things that haven’t unfold
As the chilly wind like a tornado blows
In a magical land with secrets that nature still holds

A Secret World

The sea is its own world
Begging to be explored
A secret only revealed to the bravest of divers
A maze n e v e r e n d i n g

The sea is full of life
Where creatures of all shapes and sizes are welcome
Each staking out their watery territory
Finding shelter in the sunken kingdom

The waves are the oceans deep breaths
In and Out
The water’s surface is a blanket
Protecting the life below and all of its chaos.
