The seasons will Change

A sprout in the ground, planted by a nut, soon to stand tall. The seasons still shifting.
Now a sapling, playing with squirrels as they run circles around. Soon to stand tall. The seasons are still changing.
Grown to only a bit taller, helps the birds to a new home. The seasons are still moving.
The mighty tree looks to the town as the roads are placed around. The seasons are still rotating.
Now no life but the tree and the rumble of the cars. The seasons begin to stop.

Stormy Morning

On this stormy morning,
Dark clouds rumble;
They flash and thunder,
And rain pours down,
Into the world below,
Onto cities and towns,
In a vicious surge,
While thunder boomed,
And lightning flashed,
As the storm released,
It’s fury upon,
the world beneath.

So heavy the rain,
So loud the thunder,
So bright the lightning,
That the world just seemed,
To come to an end,
With violent storm,
With thunder and lightning,
With no living thing,
In the cold outside.
Only rain, thunder,
And lightning,
The storm.
But nothing more,
On this stormy morning.

Nature’s Tale

Listen, my children, gather ’round.
Let me tell you a story,
About the sky and ground.
Of sea and land,
Of nature’s hand,
Of the heavens above,
Of the valleys and oceans below,
Some waves fast,
Some winds slow.
In everlasting time,
Doth nature’s rhyme,
The beautiful land of God.

Oh, how beautiful were the stone mountains,
Capped with diamond-like snow?
How beautiful were the meadows,
Where extravagant flowers would grow?

How mighty were the seas,
With their clear blue waters?
How mysterious were the stars,
Their constellations representing your lost daughters?

But now, my children,
Our land is bare.
Wild animals have been hunted,
Leaving no more than a hair.

Our mountains have been mined,
For their precious metals.
Our seas have been polluted,
Treated as dying petals.

So, my decedents,
In my dying breath,
I beg you,
I beseech you,
To clean up the rest,
Of our polluted world,
Striped of it’s beauty.
Without it’s nature,
Where is the pride of humanity?
This world is our ward,
We must protect our home,
Stop this behavior untoward .
We must take care of it,
And treat it kindly,
For where would we go,
If this Earth was dying?

I am an Athlete

I am an Athlete
That’s how I see life
That’s who I am
Running, Jumping, Kicking, Shooting
In my mind, life is one big competition
One big chance to prove yourself
One shot is all it takes
One opportunity to change the whole game
I love to see the looks on the boy’s faces when I beat them
It makes me feel like I can do anything
But hard work is what matters most
During practice we sprint
Pools of sweat run down my hot face
My legs feel like noodles and my throat stings
But I keep going
Because being a girl means it will always be twice as hard
Twice as tough
No matter how hard I work I will always be doubted
And that is why I love being an athlete
I love the challenges, even when they seem impossible
Because no matter what, I will fight.
