An Ode To Candy

Oh candy, how I love you so,
I see people buying you to and fro,
Your sugar melting in my mouth,
Makes my heart want to run north and south.

Candy chocolates are what I like best,
I’m always up for a little taste test,
And Starbursts, oh those chewy squares,
I love it when I get them in pairs.

Halloween is my favorite day,
You get candy without even having to pay!
I love getting those big Hershey bars,
And I run from house to house as fast as a car!

Surely, candy is what I love best!

Home

I am from guitars and drumsticks on the floor and walls, from chocolaty Reece’s Peanut Butter cups and Finder amps in the corners of the rooms.

I am from the white brick red dark draping door the house on the near corner of the street.

I am from music in the living room from doing yo-yo outside and from the fresh smell of the kitchen coming in the house after school.

I am from the garden in the backyard the dark leaves falling from the spiraling trees that stretch to the top of the clouds.

I am from watching Elf every year before Christmas and laughs coming from the playroom from my little sisters and step mom.

I am from the biking dad and joking mom.

From Yes Ma’am and No Sir.

I am from going to the church and praying at night.

I am from German Grandparents from cookies and salad.

From the dad who lived on a big farm.

I am from 6505 Carringon Dr.

The Pizza in The oven

Opening the package makes you so tired
making you feel like you were fired
putting it on the pan
looking like you have no plan

You put on the oven mitt
making sure it’ll fit
but being so hungry
it makes the horrible weather outside sunny

You hear the timer ring and you run downstairs
like you’re flying through the air
you sit down ready to eat
then you see the hot, smoking, and juicy meat

Then you chomp down to eat, the feel of the hot pizza and its softness on your teeth
The chunkiness underneath your tongue

Then you look down at your empty plate
thinking of the great meal you ate
Then you think back on how it all started.

My Life

I am from Austin Swim Club kick boards,

And riding boots caked with mud.

From delicious homemade pizza

And following Whole 30 diets.

I’m from a large roomy place with a

blue, horse bedroom of my own.

I am from reading horse books in my bed,

And knitting bunnies with Grandma May.

From always drinking out of the sink faucet,

And wearing long brown ponytails.

I’m from dinosaur eggs to dinosaur bones,

And watching fireworks on Independence Day.

From beautiful sunsets on Bethany Beach,

And a lovely stroll in Central Park.

I am from planting lilacs in the garden,

And picking out pansies at the store.

From Tiernan, the Irish men,

And May the mighty.

I’m from the smoky smells of New York City,

And scones freshly baking in the oven.

From a fresh pot of tea,

And a New York bagel with oodles of cream cheese.

I am from ‘You can never have too many horses,’

And ‘Wind in my hair, don’t care.’

From ‘Wings of Fire’

And ‘Pegasus’ by Kate O’Hearn

I’m from Friesian Stallions,

And golden doodle puppy dogs.

From everything I love,

And all my life I’ve yet to live.

Sunshine to Shadows

The summer sun

against your face, The winter

breeze against your feet, The falling

colors shining brightly in your eyes, The

Spring flowers dancing around you, The sudden

appearance of the moon makes you sleepy, The

howling wolves are growing nearer, Something is

watching you from the shadows, But nothing

seems to be there, Where are you,

Where am I, Find me if

you can.

Repetition of Talking

Talking forever ahhhhhhhhh…
Mom!…will you please stop talking.
Talking happens with someone of interest, something important, something special, something with life, or anything you can’t deny.
Talking has changed our world forever after cavemen, and made us chatty, chatty humans that we are today, so yay!
We talk, we rock, we knock on the doors to talk, we conversate with the people we meet and know forever.
We know some of us talk too much, but the reason we talk so much…is we don’t care!!!!
Well sorry about that it wasn’t expected so this is the reason…I made this poem.
