Ode to my Bar Mitzvah

I stand there, being watched,
I feel sweat running across my forhead,
I read my portion, nervous to slip,
I continue,

I read, they listen,
I chant, they cheer,
I sing, they fling,
I continue,

Ode to my Bar Mitzvah
My one and only Bar Mitzvah,
I read, I chant, I sing,
I continue.

Ode to My Dogs

Ode to my dogs
One is more annoying than
a screeching parent. The
other more lazy that a lazy
koala. They are crazy
wild when they meet new
people. They get more
jealous than anything
if ignore them,
They are the most
impatient dogs you will
ever meet. But they
are still the most loving
animals you will know.
They are very over protective
over their food and toys.
They are all bark and no
bite.

Scorching

Imagine a world
Where this is no more snow to play
And heat advisories every day.

The politicians are still fighting,
But more people are dying.
The world heats up every second.

Ice around the world has melted
Cities and towns abandoned
For they are uninhabitable.

We blame
The old for not knowing,
Or more accurately,
Not doing.
The young will now grow up
In this world.

For our children and the next,
Please,
Take care of this place.

What’s That

The viola, a wonderful thing, renowned for its jokes,
What you haven’t heard of it?
What a shame, it’s a four stringed instrument like the others,
But don’t be fooled because it’s quite different than a violin
It’s bigger in size and rich in ton,
But the biggest differences is our lowest string, the C string,
We have the low string like our older sibling the cello,
We can sound alluring to the ear with our beautiful sounds ranging from sweet melodies to gloomy harmonies

Don’t forget us because we’re still important, every instrument has a part,
Violins with the melody, violas with harmonies, bass plays the bass line and cello are all of the above,
Together when we work we create music,
When we practice together we improve our technique,
Even when we’re tired we still try our best,
So please try to remember us,
The violas the best!

Stranded

water seeps through my brain
and clogs e v e r y thought
im drowning
nowhere to go or hide or take cover

saltwater in my veings
I cannot
move

i feel like i have been swimming
for hours but
my brain cannot communicate with my libs

where is the solid shore
i am trying to find my patch
of land

the harder i try
the quicker i fail

i hopes of land i swim faster
in hopes of land i am paralyzed

i begin to doze off
exhausted muscles loosen
brain relaxes
eyes closing

land appears
i am no longer
stranded

Ode to Softball

There is no drama
It’s all about having fun
Be yourself
Hit the ball hard
Work together as a team
Cheer each other on
You got to get dirty
Slide to every base
My pitches are faster than a
bullet
Run Super fast like a cheetah
Put on a fierce face, play mean
Stand on the pitcher mound,
Like you rule the game
Know that your team, gots your
back
On the field, it’s only about
softball
Be prepared for the ball
Be free enjoy
Don’t give up
Think about winning!!!

Ode to the Neighborhood Dog

He’s black
Black as night
Always on time
With his bark like an alarm clock
Loving the sun
Like a warm blanket
But the coldness
Fills him up like water
his bark as strong as Zeus
A bark so strong it could shake
the earth
His fur so soft
Soft just like a cloud
The way he walks
Like he owns the street
Bark waking us up
But not on purpose
Ode to the Neighborhood dog
Always there to welcome you
with an open bark

What Pollution Could Become

Look around, up at the sky
A nauseating blend of gray and black
Smoke everywhere
It’s hard to see anything through the haze
A haze of uncertainty.

Try to remember the freedom of clean air
Breathe in
Cough out the stale stench of smoke
The smell of a busy industry
No time for the environment
Taken for granted

A tree can only be described as a majestic
It is not only a home, but a habitat
Some, with flowers bursting with color
Now any tree left
Has withered into a short stump
No longer is it bursting with life
The flowers have fallen to the ground
Their time forgotten
No water left to nourish them

The water is no longer a tantalizing blue
No longer are there gentle, lapping waves in the ocean
No longer is a body of water as reflective as a mirror
Now tehre is only harsh currents of mud left
Swimming through the little water that remains
Bits of plastic trash
Glinting through the grimy haze of the ocean
Cans, nets, and gass
Nowhere else to go

A green earth wasted.

Ode to the Ice Cream Truck

Ode to the ice cream truck
The truck is white as snow
Yet hard as a rock
As everybody would pass by
A man would give out a freezing
item
Everybody would line up
It was so cold it would shatter your
teeth
So many different flavors
You could mix and match
Yet so cold it had to melt
And the mysterious man had to
leave
And so must the freezing truck
But comes back everyday
Sometimes with something new
Would taste better than the last time
Lines for miles
Desperate as if we were starving
Hot as hell outside
Begging for ice cream

On top of our knees
And we all get what we want

Me Too

Me too, a silence breaker
For equal rights is all we ask
The cold shoulder is a common response
For such a simple request

Not too much to ask
Just to be equal, common courtesy
In a world where we can make things fly
But don’t respect human rights
