Midnight

Witching hour, pitch black, the moon is howling.
Windows closed, tight blinds pulled down,
Close the curtains and turn off the lights.
It´s time for the fright.

Lock the doors, turn on the alarm and doze off to bed.
Knock, knock.
Why is someone at the door?
The door creaks as I open it.
Wow! There is no one at the door.
I wonder who was knocking?
I’m just going to go back to bed.

Knock, knock. Creak.
Now who is at the door?
Don’t worry.
I’m tucked in tight.
Oh no, I didn’t close the front door!

Music

Music! How it glides through my body
Like ghazals dancing through the prairie

Like an alligator pulling a wildebeest Into the water
It tackles every nerve in my body

Music! It lifts me like a pelican soaring over the ocean
It hugs me like pandas hugging bamboo

Music! It circles around me like a sly panther
But it also fierce like a lioness protecting her cubs

Music! Its calm and quite like the Amazon
It makes me feel alive every time I listen

As it lifts me, hugs me, roars at me ferociously
Takes me slowly, loves me

Jazz, rap, classical, rock, pop, country and so much more
Music! Oh how much I love it

My Dreams

Whoosh! I went dashing through the water
Like a fish chasing bait through the water

Faster faster faster, Suddenly I am at the end
Its coming Faster faster faster

I run through the safari, I am as slow as a cheetah
I run till my legs hurt, Faster faster faster

Cackling as if it were a hyena, it jumps on me
tackling me to the ground, Janhvai janhvai janhavi!

Janhavi says, my sister, Come down for breakfast
I jump off the bed, It was all just a dream!!!

My family

My family is a rose
It has a lovely scent and beautiful petals,
But it has thorns too
My family is a rose

My family is rich in culture and love
We are the Amazons
With crocodiles and hippos
Panthers and geckos
My family is diversity

My family is the night sky
Darkness mystery
Compassion, misery, love
My family is curiosity

My family, we are the planets
Each different and enlightening
With the sun, moon, earth and more
We are so alluring

Through the pitch black space
We have each other
That’s why we are family

My family, we are snowflakes
Different but still unique
That’s why we are family

Man’s Best Friend

Man’s Best Friend

Long before man ‘fore he took his great height
The earth was but earth unburdened unkept
Trees stood mightily in day and dark night
Unfettered wildness in wilderness slept.

Now rocks we climbed high both rough and rigid
The Plains our playground in days stretched with fun
Mountains their majesty tall and frigid
The forests with paths to be found and run.

But trees bend, and break to the axe of greed
Plains once splay now stripped, striped for planes
Mountains cut, slashed for man’s great need
Last wilderness wildness bound and in chains.

sr’nity forsaken for savagery’s demise.
The worlds nature bought what money now buys.
