Hope

Hope is like a flicker in the dark

A ray of shining light

A whisper in the wind

A spark in the night

Hope is a bird taking flight

A beacon in the midst of plight

A flower in the desert’s light

A promise to make things right

It’s the silver lining in the cloud

The rainbow after the rain

A glimmer of tomorrow

And an end to all the restraints

My Dog Archie

My dog Archie is a cutie
He has jowls you want to embrace
Hanging from the corner of his face
It’s what makes him mine

Archy can be as stubborn as a mule
When he wants to go for a stroll
Or when he wants us to spike his bowl
He sits there in a pile of his drool

He’ll try to cuddle with you
Sometimes it’s for love,
And other times it’s for food

Whenever he’s in trouble
He’ll roll around and play dead
With his belly up to the sky
He’s acting anything but shy
I can’t resist but to forgive him with a reply

Archy is an annoying dude
He hates his dog food
He’ll paw at it all day
So we have to spike it good

Where I’m From

I am from the feel of a brand-new book
From Taylor’s Version and Hogwarts
I am from the culdesac
Books and blankets on a rainy day
From Christmas tree-scented candles
I am from tulips from the Netherlands
From Juneau and Sitka
I’m from cheering for the Astros
Navy and orange
I’m from laughter and smiles
Bookshelves and pumpkin bread
I’m from pencil against paper
Sitting by the fireplace
I am from soccer and baseball
Spending all day outside
Being called in after a long day
Hot tea in a steaming mug
From taking walks in the Greenbelt
Running to beat Dad home
I am proud to be from my family

Basketball

Dribble, shoot, pass, score,
Basketball is what I live for.
The ball is life, the court is home
Where players shine, and greatness is known
With every shot and every play Basketball brings joy, every day.

Where I’m From

I am from a book.
From lavender and sweatpants.
I am from the brown house
With the rainbow floral garden
I am from the big, leafy tree
That sits, its green leaves soaking up
The golden sun.
I am from the cinnamon-scented candles
And decorating the pine.
From Speak Louder and Talk Slower.
I’m from going to the place every
Sunday morning to worship Him.
I am from the place where cowboys used to ride
And the country of the free.
I am from Lefsa and icecream and BBQ.
I’m from when I scraped my leg,
And my brother rushed to my aid.
I am from Texas.

Where I’m From

I’m from stain remover
From H.E.B. and Art Class
I am from the giant red house at the top of the hill, and the tiny, quaint one with the baby-blue door
I am from the bamboo swing in my front yard, and the dead, yellow grass below it
I am from parties and gatherings on my back porch, complete with a movie projector and deep-dish pizza
From Aileen and Lawrence
I’m from Target trips and iced lemon loaves
I’m from the random to-do lists and doodling on restaurant napkins
From, “Play Taylor’s Version!” and “Let’s go already!”
I’m from gratitude and love
From Singapore, Taiwan, California, and Texas
Pulled pork tacos and fried rice
From the ACL my mom tore while surfing, and the trip my grandma made as an immigrant

Under my dresser, a cookie tin holds gift cards, keychains, letters from friends
All little things that remind me of the past
And memories I’ll never forget.

My poem about me

The bustling streets of the city,
An Asian boy walks with delight
With eyes that sparkle and a smile so bright,
He walks glamorous as if taking flight.

His hair is black and silky as the night,
And his face is a canvas, a work of delight.
His skin is golden, tanned by the sun,
And his cheeks are rosy, a sight for anyone.

He’s a curious soul, always eager to learn,
With a heart full of passion and a mind that yearns.
He dreams of a world that’s fair and just,
Where love and kindness go, and hate is crushed.

In his eyes, you can see a fire that burns,
A flame that never dies, a spirit that yearns.
For greatness and joy, for love and peace,
For a world where all can thrive and experience release.

So if you see him walking down the street,
Smiling and waving at everyone he meets,
Know that he’s a warrior, a hero in the making,
A boy with a dream, a destiny in the making. good

Oh shoes

Oh shoes oh shoes
You are always on my feet
Oh shoes oh shoes
You are not good to eat
Oh shoes oh shoes
Everyone wears a shoe
Oh shoes oh shoes
Just look for them at the zoo
Oh shoes oh shoes
I found you in the dumpster
Oh shoes oh shoes
Whoever trashed you was a munster
Oh shoes oh shoes
I don’t want you to say no
Oh shoes oh shoes
Witch is why i won’t propose
Oh shoes oh shoes
Your getting kinda stinky
But I wear you instead
Oh shoes oh shoes
I this poems getting long
Oh shoes oh shoes
I’m going to play ping pong.
Oh shoes oh shoes

I used to

I used to be doubtful but
Now I’m hopeful.

I used to stay sitting but now
i stand with happiness

I use to be tired and bored but,now i’m like a flower sometimes happy sometimes a bit down

I use to drag on the floor like a wet towel trying to be dry but,now every step i take lets out a little hope into each step

Now I feel whatever I want to feel whatever, i want to be
Whatever makes me happy in life.

An Ongoing Competition

A wishbone of our fortunes
Bones breaking into sands
A careful balance in our grips
Holding steady in our hands

Something we know
Don’t let go
Something we don’t
Must break

Our lives will diverge
When I go away
You alone,
Left behind in the wake

But as you know,
We will meet again
Although we won’t know when

Against each other
My own brother
Our minds divided twins
