The trees let their leaves fly,
Float,
Glide,
Soar,
And scatter across the grass like little paper birds
The trees are almost bare, covering the streets in their coat of leaves
The leaves show their true color, what’s underneath as they fly against the pale blue sky
They jump and spin across the street like little dancers
They hop and skip across the yards like little kids on a playground
The leaves, They pursue their dreams
They fly,
Everything is Red, Yellow, Brown, and Orange
All the costumes draped about ready to scare an unsuspecting sibling
Smiles plastered on friends as they laugh and giggle
They crunch crunch crunch on the leaves beneath
The shadow of an animal shakes the bush, scrounging around for food
The chilly air feels like relief to the hot summers, and we’re all hoping for a chilly haloween
Sweaters on everybody!
The leaves they fly along with everyone else,
Pumpkins lie around, ready to be made into jack o’ lanterns
Come to eat the most delicious treat, fresh apple pie!
The aroma overtakes, the taste is unimaginable,
The taste of fall,
Everyone knows it and they know it well
The tastes, smells, sights, and thoughts swirl in the breeze
And now it’s finally feeling like its…
Only a jump away
Waiting for the glorious moment when you realize it’s…
FALL
bookstore girls
old russian authors and late nights at bookstores
listening to music while everything else is hushed
waiting underneath bus stops while it pours
reading thick books on tiny beach shores
drinking tea from cans, watching them being crushed
old russian authors and late nights at bookstores
eating candy apples and throwing out their cores
hair flying in the wind usually going unbrushed
waiting underneath bus stops while it pours
taking tests and always getting perfect scores
talking to pretty boys and cheeks getting flushed
old russian authors and late nights in bookstores
laughing so hard that we bump into doors
walking downtown in a big group while getting lushed
waiting underneath bus stops while it pours
Always in trouble for not doing our chores
living life maybe a little too rushed
old russian authors and late nights at bookstores
waiting underneath bus stops while it pours
To be one with the Clouds
to be one with the clouds
the clouds move past
around and around our atmosphere
telling us the time
i yearn to touch a cloud
reach up and let my fingertip caress the gentle giants
to be a part of nature’s most fleeting beauty
the delicate puff of clear hazy magnificence
is it warm or cool
soft or surprisingly coarse
the feeling of a pillow in the sky
right there in my hand
the memory of touch will keep the sensation
safe, right there on my fingertips
to touch a cloud
for a brief, astounding, moment
gently coating me with mist
the embrace of the transparent wonders engulfing me inside
so that i may become one with the clouds
floating carelessly around, blanketing the gentle
baby blue sky
Paper Portals
Magical portals that transport you to
A Land of Stories
Once you’ve gone through
You can’t stop
You just keep going
Through all its twists and turns
Over its cliffs
All the way
To the end
Where you’ll come back
Back to reality
Back to life
Until you pick up a new one…

Getting Lost in a Book
Open the pages
Now lost in this world
How I could stay here for ages
Fiction and reality twirled
Dancing with dragons
Swinging from vines
Riding in wagons
And uncovering lies
Mysteries with nancy
And demigod percy
Cake and tea fancy
Please have some mercy
I open a book
And suddenly I’m hooked.
Time
Autumn leaves falling, a chilly breeze.
22, the day I was born.
No siblings: only kid at home.
Family always over: spending time together.
Started volleyball at 6 years old.
Wasn’t good at first: practiced a lot .
First the YMCA, then made regional .
Elementary school brought some new friendships.
Some to last, some to leave.
Some are my best friends today.
Graduated elementary: on to middle school.
Weekends always full, no more freetime.
School fills the weekdays, getting busy.
What will people think of me?
The world around me moving fast.
Time doesn’t wait just for you.
A trip out west
rain pelts the dirt
cars blur by
Mountains with trees stacked and packed
the world feels so small and so empty of meaning
cars blur by
my tears drop on leather seats
the world feels so small and so empty of meaning
smells of pine and vodka
my tears drop on leather seats
neon gas station signs and yellow painted streets
smells of pine and vodka
it’s a beautiful pocket of world
neon gas station signs and yellow painted streets
i feel unbearably alone
it’s a beautiful pocket of world
my head hurts and my heart burns
i feel unbearably alone
rain pelts the dirt
my head hurts and my heart burns
Mountains with trees stacked and packed
Creatures Unlike Us
Deep down in the forest live creatures with freedom
With confidence with hope
Creatures unlike you but still similar
Because they are different it doesn’t mean they are bad or poisonous
But beautiful and loving
Sure they protect themselves but you are probably unusual
Learn about them care for them and they will with you
My Version Of The Fault In Our Stars
Where I’m from by: Hazel Grace
I’m from the hospital.
The oxygen tank I bring with me everywhere.
The stares I get wherever I go.
From the worried looks on my parent’s faces whenever I’m upset.
I’m from the cancer support group.
From the thought I could die at any moment.
I am from Augustus words.
“That’s the thing about pain it demands to be felt”
I’m from the “Ok” being our “Forever”
The book I showed him the day we met.
When I traveled to Amsterdam and when we ate at Orangee.
I am from stale cookies and fake smiles.
Im from the happiness I feel in my heart
The adrenaline going through my body.
I’m from a roller coaster of emotions
From Issac’s bad jokes
I am from protectiveness and comfort
I am far from freedom
From my heartbroken heart when you had to leave me.
I’m from my experiences
