The Book

The book falls with a thud
Whoever touched it?
Not the rose bud
Sitting on the shelf the book was once on
The dead rose petals shrivel upon
The steams so green, yet so dead
You’ll never know that it’s just in your head

The book’s indents glow a gleaming red
Just enough to sense the misread
Sentences inside, perhaps in Latin
The pages feel soft, just like satin
When you open it up, do be aware
You never know why it smells of pear

The book is full of stories
Live ones that tell the glories
Of the young & the old
Of the quiet & the bold
Of the common & untold
Of the worst & the gold

The book will tell you of the future & the past
These stories shall everlast
Until the day
The 5th of May
When all is said and done
May the readers, have some fun

Night – Time

The fun joys of daylight,
Soon overflow with the sound of “good night”.
And as you tuck into bed,
Tiredness fleds.

The dark can be scary to some,
But the beautiful specks in the night sky can help you overcome.
These specks are called stars,
With their lovely charm and gleam on cars.

The darkness of the night isn’t just about stars tho,
Because one day you could be greeted with elegant snow.
And it’s the city lights time to shine,
While the birds chirp and say goodnight.

A Taken Token

Someone stole my token,
I can’t find it anywhere,
Someone stole my token,
It is not in my hair.
Someone stole my token,
It’s somewhere it that fog,
Someone stole my token,
I think it’s in a hog.
Someone stole my token,
I think I left it in a bag,
Someone stole my token,
I hope it’s not in that rag.

My Family is An Amusement Park

My Family is an amusement park. My sister is the roller coaster, as her emotions rise and fall. she cries, she yells, she wines, but other times she shines with happiness.

My Mom is like those spinning alien rides. When she is mad at you your head spins like a dreidel, when she is done with the storm of madness all of the spinning stops. And she is as happy and fun as can be.

My dad is like a carnival game, at the start he is fun and enjoyable, but when you start to get towards the end if you do anything wrong the whole game goes the other way.

My Dog, Hog

I have a dog,
I named him Hog,
We live in a log,
That’s in the middle of a bog,
My toilet’s clogged,
There’s a lot of fog,
In this bog.
Hog,
Started a blog,
With a frog,
It’s a catalog.
My dog,
Hog,
Is in a synagogue,
With frog.
The frog,
Hates analogs,
Like Hog.
Quick!
They’re drinking eggnog,
And,
Eating hot dogs!

Snowman

I’m alive!
I’m alive!
What is this world?
I see some snow?
And one little girl!
It’s cold and windy
I wish I could twirl!
I see some trees
And leaves are curled!

One month goes by and I still stand!
I love this!
I love this!
But I feel bland
I vision water going down my back
I shrink and shrink
Height I lack!
Is this really the end?
All the memories…
No more friend.

2020- A Year of Chaos and Lessons

2020.

A year where over 80 million people caught the coronavirus. Some survived. And some didn’t.
A year where over three million animals were killed due to the wildfires.
It was a year where people like Brennon Taylor, George Floyd, Michael J. Rivera, Vincent Harris and so many more were taken from this world by the police system.
It was a year when people spent more time worrying about the political issues of wearing a mask rather than just listening to the health officials and protecting themselves and others.
It was a year of protests and riots over issues that could not be solved by a simple statement.

The list could go on forever because 2020 was a year of chaos.

But, 2020 was also a lesson.

Through this year, we have learned the importance of being with family. Of value the time that we spend with others because who knows what can happen next.
This year has taught us to cherish the simple acts like giving a hug to someone without being forced to wear a mask.
This year has shown us the growth of technology in that we are able to video chat with our loved ones during difficult times.
This year has taught us to hold out hope, even when it seems like nothing can be better. On December 14, the first American citizen got the Covid-19 vaccine, giving us hope that soon life will get back to normal.

With everything that’s occurred this year, it’s important to reflect on the little good that happened along with the bad. Despite all the pain that this year brought, we should have hope that 2021 will be better. Some believe that we will go back to our daily motions of life and it will be like nothing ever happened. But it is important to take these lessons that 2020 has brought us and use them.

We pack up all the lessons that this past year has taught us, and we wait for the next event that life will throw at us. We say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021.
