Sleep

I hate it when I go to bed,
“you have to get some sleep” mom said,
but when I go to catch some winks,
“I’m not tired” is all I think.
I toss, I turn, I count some sheep,
and nothing works, I lay and weep,
So I take my socks off, “Wow they reak!”
And suddenly I’m fast asleep.

The poem

In first grade we wrote letters
In second we got better
writing words like birds of a feather
In third grade we wrote paragraphs
Fourth we wrote stories without getting bored
and fifth we read books chanting words like the Sith
Now I’m in sixth getting homework galore and be writing a poem when I’d rather snowboard

Rosey

You come to me
so you can sleep
first you get your little treat
You close your eyes
I see you’re cold
so I give you a blanket
You cuddle in
I close my eyes
so we can sleep
We wake
Play toss
You get tired
You come to me
so you can sleep

An immigrant

Forced to flee
Or chose to run
We pick up our lives
And a new one’s begun
A fresh start
Chapter one
But wait why am I in handcuffs
Why am I being torn from my son
Wait sweet boy I’ll find you one day
All I wanted was a place to stay
I’m shunned away and alienized
But I’m a person like them with a heart and Eyes
Eyes to see the unjust in this world
These people walk by it
And seem unconcerned
Unconcerned for the lives being torn apart
Cause apparently our origin determines our smarts
I was promised a home safe from fear
But now the dangers are unclear

Siblings

I see you here,
I see you there,
I see you everywhere.
I can’t seem to get away,
It seems like you’re always there.
You’re always annoying me,
I always want to punch you.
I wonder why?
Sometimes I wish you would just go away.
Annoying me is your specialty.
