Where I’m From

I am from the mandala,
from Mexico and Teotihuacan.
I’m from the comfy cozy space,
the magical forest we own.

It feels like love and magic.
It sounds quiet.

I’m from the marigold, the growing trees,
green and gold, wet and dry.
I’m from the family trail,
the love and joy and pain,
from my mother and father,
and grandparents,
the long, magical trail of love.

I’m from the wooden cross.
I’m a child of God.
I’m from Mexico and Teotihuacan,
Mexican sweet breads and fields of corn.

From the daring campers,
the artists,
the hard workers.
I am from Mexico.
That magical place is where I’m from.
